Ralph W. Carr, Jr.

Carr, Jr., age 82, of Conowingo, MD passed away peacefully, Thursday, April 12, 2018. Born March 5, 1936 in Conowingo, MD, Ralph was the son of the late Ralph W. Carr, Sr. and the late Mary C. (Rice) Fink.Ralph was a union worker for Eastern Gunite Co. for 35 years, were he worked as a Gunite machine operator. Leading up to his retirement in 1999, in the course of his career, Ralph worked on many of the local dams including the Conowingo, Hopewood and Dock Street Dams. Ralph was an honorary member of the VFW Post 8185 in Port Deposit, MD for 35 years. He was a NASCAR enthusiast and collector of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. memorabilia. He enjoyed watching baseball and football and was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and the Washington Redskins. Ralph also enjoyed fishing and taking walks, but what he cherished most was his time spent with his family and friends.Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Elva K. Carr; two sons: William Ray Carr and James Randall Carr; seven grandchildren: Jennifer Carr, Cindy Flynn, Rachel Carr, Justin Carr, Steven Carr, Amber Carr and Chelsea Carr; two step-grandchildren: Robert Caldwell and Donald Caldwell; three great grandchildren and two nephews: Clyde Carr, Jr. and Kenneth Carr.Including his parents, Ralph was also preceded in death by his two sons: Rick Eugene Carr and Danny Ray Carr; and his brother, Clyde Carr, Sr.A celebration of Ralph’s life will be held at 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911, where family and friends may visit beginning at 6:00 PM.
